severe weather is
a fascination
I can't seem to resist
the air changes (literally)
when extreme conditions
are predicted
I become fixated on
the sky and in my own
amateur fashion
I try to "read" the clouds
or watch how far the trees
bend in the wind to determine
what might fall from the sky
the process mesmerizes
and is so irresistible that
I find myself standing on
the porch - hoping Mother
Nature will work her magic
before my very eyes
when the birds stop flying
and I can no longer hear
their secret chirping cadence
a change in the weather
is imminent - my purpose
for the day takes an
immediate u-turn . . .
to the kitchen!
a pot of home made
soup - comfort food
to celebrate
an unexpected snowy
day near April's end
